Bold Red Blend with Character and Depth
The Dornier Leda 2017 is a powerful, structured blend of 50% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 25% Shiraz. It is expressive, refined, and serious - a red wine with luxurious texture, rich fruit and firm tannins.
The grapes come from prime vineyards on the slopes of Stellenbosch Mountain and Simonsberg. Malbec and Cabernet Franc grow on decomposed granite soils in Groenkloof, while the Shiraz is planted on deep red soils, shaded by Simonsberg in the morning. Cool breezes help ensure healthy vines and slow ripening.
Fermentation took place in open-top stainless-steel tanks with regular pump overs and punch-downs. The wine was aged for 18 months, with 50% of the Malbec matured in new American oak and the remainder in second and third fill French oak barrels.
Excellent with grilled meats or rich chocolate desserts - intense, layered, and full of character.
