Louis Strydom
After graduating from Elsenburg College in Stellenbosch, Louis Strydom worked for various wineries in South Africa and gained additional experience in the USA and Europe (Switzerland, France, Italy and Germany). His expertise in the wine cellar soon attracted the attention of experts and he received numerous awards for his wine creations. Louis also likes to share his knowledge with others, which is why he is involved in the training of prospective winemakers.

Ernie Els Wines - A golfer with a love for wine
Ernie Els not only performs very well on the golf course, he also has a particularly good feeling for excellent South African wines, which have been awarded several prizes. Having grown up on the golf course and celebrated victories in Europe and the USA, golf professional Ernie Els developed an ever-increasing desire to own his own winery during his travels. The hobby became a passion, as in sport, so also for wine. In 1999, Ernie Els fulfilled his biggest dream and bought a winery in the Stellenbosch wine growing region together with a good friend. It took five years until the winery on the slopes of the Heldberg Mountains opened and the first wines were produced. After a separation from his business partner, he and Baron Hans von Staff-Reitzenstein transformed the estate into a luxurious ambience and today offers his guests a breathtaking view of Cape Town and Table Mountain. His international reputation catapulted Ernie El's wines to the top of the list of excellent and sought-after quality wines. His motto is "Passion for elegance", which also describes his Golf style in addition to his high quality wine collection.
The Big Easy - Elegant and premium Ernie Els wines
The second star of the Ernie Els Winery is the winemaker Louis Strydom, who gives the wines their unmistakable character and contributes significantly to the success story of the wines. The focus is on red wine blend, from the preferred grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz or also Cabernet Franc. The range of expressive wines is extensive and includes the flagship wine Ernie Els Signature as well as the red wines of the Major Series and the elegant creations of the Big Easy collections. The wines of the Big Easy collection are given the nickname from the golf scene as well as the personality of the owner Ernie Els. Characteristic of this sportsmanship are his tall frame and gentle character as well as an elegant golf swing. The Big Easy wines embody exactly these characteristics and also have a great potential for development, which is why wine critics such as John Platter awarded prizes to the excellent wines. In addition to the two full-bodied red wines, the Easy Big collection also includes a fresh white wine from the Chenin Blanc grape variety and a light and fruity rosé. Ernie Els' latest red wine stars are the two award-winning Proprietor's wines, which will delight every wine lover with their fruity aromas and nuances of chocolate and spices. Ernie Els' wines are produced through organic viticulture on different types of soil such as granite or oak leaf soils. Ernie Els Wine Estate - Ambition, commitment and efficiency
The passionate personality of Ernie Els realizes a number of important projects in addition to his excellent wines. In 1999, the Ernie Els Foundation was established to support young South Africans from families with limited resources. The aim of the foundation is to give children and young people sustainable access to the economy, which means that support is offered in the areas of education and life skills. In addition, Ernie Els uses his passion for golf to develop an initiative to promote the children's golfing talent. Both the equipment and the golf clothing are sponsored.
Besides the winery and some social projects, Els also founded the company Ernie Els Designs, which renovates and redesigns golf courses all over the world. This includes a complete package with matching restaurants in South Africa, Malaysia or Dubai. In addition to his successes in the South African wine world, he has been honored with the title of "Designer of the Year", the Golf Awards and with awards such as "Best New Golf Courses in the World".
