In the glass, it shows a bright burgundy hue. The bouquet reveals dark berries and plums, layered with liquorice and warm oak spices. On the palate, it delivers rich dark fruit, firm powdery tannins, and a full-bodied structure. Elegant yet powerful, Cyril Back 2022 is approachable now but promises 8–10 years of graceful cellaring.
Hand-harvested grapes were naturally fermented in open oak fermenters, followed by gentle basket pressing. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 19 months in French oak barrels (30% new, the remainder second- and third-fill). Only ten barrels were selected for the final blend – a wine that consistently receives top awards and sells out before release.
