The Spier 21 Gables Pinotage 2017 Magnum is a superb expression of South Africa’s flagship varietal - crafted from dryland vineyards on the southern slopes of Stellenbosch overlooking False Bay. The decomposed granite soils and cool maritime influence resulted in small, concentrated berries with excellent structure.
In the glass, the wine shines a deep ruby red with vibrant highlights. Aromas of caramelised black cherries, blackberry, allspice and dark chocolate open into a generous, full-bodied palate with smooth, dense fruit and velvety tannins. The finish is long and poised - a wine built for ageing.
Aged for 20 months in 70% new oak barrels (French, American and Hungarian), the 21 Gables Pinotage delivers depth, balance and complexity in perfect harmony.
Ideal with mature beef, venison, lamb or strong cheeses - and a standout centrepiece for festive dinners or long-term cellaring.
