Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is a noble grape variety, which convinces especially by its sweet and fruity taste. It originates from Burgundy in France, in Germany the same vine is called blue Spätburgunder. This versatile grape stands for light to medium-bodied red wines and particularly charms with its intense bouquet. Pinot Noir is also excellent for making champagne, which clearly speaks for its quality. The grape is lighter in tannin structure than, for example, the powerful Cabernet Sauvignon. A cooler climate is preferred, which can be ideally ensured in South Africa by the so-called Cape Doctor. The cooler climate prolongs the ripening process of the vine and thus gives the grape more time to reach optimal maturity. Pinot Noir plays an important role especially in the regions of Constantia, Elgin, Paarl and Stellenbosch due to its advantages.
