The Shiraz vine is resistent against many diseases and pest. This is why it has spread all over the world. Wine growers in Australia, Spain, Argentina, Switzerland and the USA like to plant the noble grape and do so with much success. Also Shiraz from South Africa is very common. According to a legend, crusaders took the vine from the Persian town Shiraz and brought it to Tain l´Hermitage. Scientists proved that Shiraz is a mixture out of the varieties Duerza and Mondeuse from the Rhône Valley.
