Champagner

Champagner belongs to the sparkling wines and is the most famous wine of this type. It is produced by the famous bottle fermentation, also called champagne method. The wine originates from Champagne, the northernmost and coolest growing region in France. The grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier make the sparkling wine a drink for festive occasions. Pinot Meunier gives Champagne its fruitiness, whereas Chardonnay and Pinot Noir stand for finesse and body. South African winemakers were inspired by this and created their Méthode Cap Classique, an excellent sparkling wine made from typical Champagne grape varieties and produced according to traditional Champagne methods.
