Uva Mira – unique wines from a unique location
The Uva Mira wine estate is located on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains in Stellenbosch. The unique location of the up to 620 meter high vineyards near False Bay is ideal for creating exceptional wines. The demanding Cabernet Franc grape variety also finds optimal conditions here. The name of the winery – Uva Mira means “wonderful grape” – therefore says it all, as elegance is one of the hallmarks of Uva Mira's wines.

Christian Coetzee
After graduating from the Elsenburg Cape Institute for Agricultural Training, Christiaan Coetzee attended grape harvests in South Africa, Champagne and the Palatinate. His journey through the world of wine took him to Bordeaux, the Rhône Valley, Tuscany and Luxembourg, among other places. Christiaan Coetzee joined Uva Mira at the end of 2012. For the winemaker, the key to a remarkable wine lies in unlocking the secrets of nature – because for him, great wines are a reflection of their place and therefore a true expression of time, nature and origin.

The exceptional location at altitudes between 260 and 620 metres above sea level provides ideal climatic conditions that give the wines their special character. The cool microclimate and mineral soils allow the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in intense flavours and an elegant structure. Grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive here under the best conditions. Even the demanding Cabernet Franc finds very good conditions here.
