Prosecco

Since 2010, Prosecco has been a protected designation of origin for Italian wines made from the Glera grape variety. As an origin-protected wine, it may only be grown, produced and bottled in defined provinces in the regions of "Veneto" and "Friuli-Venezia Giulia" in northeastern Italy. The slight acidity that Prosecco gets from the Glera grape gives the sparkling wine its distinctive pleasant structure. This is underpinned with a variety of tropical fruit aromas, such as notes of citrus, quince, apple or peach. In the glass, the wine delights with its bright straw-yellow color.

Prosecco in Detail

A distinction is made between Prosecco Spumante, Prosecco Frizzante and Prosecco Tranquillo - there is also a classification based on the sugar content in the following flavors: extra brut, brut, ertra dry, dry, semi-dry, mild. The optimal drinking temperature for a Prosecco is 8 to 10 degrees Celsius and it can be enjoyed particularly well as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to seafood or oysters.
