Mineral

Mineral is a term for a note that is often found in white wines. They have a slightly distinctive and earthy character, sometimes critics also speak of a slightly rough-toothed feeling when they talk about mineral notes. These taste impressions are caused by different soil types such as flint, petrol or saltpetre. A slight saltiness on the tongue is the only directly measurable influence that can be detected by mineral content.
