Blend
Blend is the English term for the combination of wines made from several grape varieties and is often also referred to as a cuvée. The goal of a blend is to unite the best characteristics of different grape varieties to create a harmonious, well-balanced wine. Both red and white grape varieties can be used, with France being particularly known for its traditional blending practices. In South Africa as well, many high-quality blends are produced, where winemakers often employ creative combinations. Blends often offer greater complexity and depth than single-varietal wines and are an important stylistic element in modern winemaking.
