Decanter World Wine Awards
The Decanter World Wine Awards are organized annually by the British Decanter Magazine, a world-renowned wine magazine. The company was founded back in 1975. The magazine includes news about international wine topics, winemakers and wineries, but also wine recommendations, vintages and tastings are described in detail. Hundreds of drops are reviewed and rated annually. The evaluation team consists of some of the best winemakers and wine critics in the world. Wine ratings are made dual from a 20-point scheme and a 100-point scale. Decanter Gold is awarded to those wines that achieve scores between 18.5 to 20 and 95 to 100 points. Since the end of apartheid, numerous South African wines have also been able to reach the coveted top places.
