Nuances of aniseed and a hint of truffle and exotic spices add the finishing touches to the bouquet. The red wine, which has matured for sixteen months in French oak, is velvety smooth on the palate and delights with elegant fruit flavours surrounded by sandalwood and cinnamon. Muratie in South Africa produces premium wine for gourmets. Wine novices as well as connoisseurs find the right red or white wine in a variety of ranges. All Muratie wines have in common a particular, individual character and offer an excellent price-quality ratio.
The Muratie Vineyard
The vineyard Muratie attaches great importance to careful handling of the vines at the wine slope. The yard is a member of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative and does not use herbicides. Only geese, ducks and turkeys are used for pest control. This natural approach shows in the Muratie wine, especially as the wine growers still hand-pick the grapes to avoid peel damage. The Muratie winery owns 45 hectares of cultivation area on which red as well as white grape varieties are planted. The soil is relatively dry which is why the land is watered after the harvest. Only by doing this, the winemakers can supply the next vintage with sufficient nutrients. The 300-year-old yard offers great products in all types of wine, but especially the Shiraz caused a stir internationally.
