The wine was named after Paul Oliver Sauer, an influential South African politician and passionate supporter of South African wine culture. His close connection to the Simonsberg region and his love for farming continue to shape the legacy of this legendary Cape Blend.
The 2009 vintage is regarded as one of the greatest vintages of recent decades. Cool conditions and slow ripening produced concentrated grapes with exceptional structure.
In the glass, the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc shows a deep ruby colour. The bouquet reveals complex aromas of blackcurrant, red berries, mocha and fine spice.
On the palate, the wine is powerful, concentrated yet refined, with elegant tannin structure and remarkable length. Ageing for 26 months in French Nevers oak adds depth, complexity and outstanding ageing potential.
