- Named after the van Lill family
- Pear, stone fruit & white pepper
- Concrete egg & 8 months on lees
Planted in 1983 without irrigation, the vines grow at high altitude on decomposed sandstone soils. These conditions produce small quantities and a focused style with high natural acidity, shaped by freshness and balance.
The nose shows subtle florals alongside pear drop, green melon and peach, lifted by a touch of white pepper. On the palate, lively stone fruit flavours such as nectarine, apricot and peach are supported by taut acidity and a creamy lees element.
Fermentation and maturation took place mainly in a concrete egg, with a small portion in second-fill 500L French oak, followed by eight months on the lees. The result is a Chenin with a clean, defined finish and excellent length.
