Anri Truter
Anri Truter has been surrounded by wine all his life – in the actual sense of the word as he grew up at the Kanonkop winery where his father Beyers Truter worked as a winemaker before he founded the Beyerskloof estate together with four passionate wine connoisseurs. His son Anri followed in his footsteps and has been a winemaker at Beyerskloof for more than ten years in the second generation. He is convinced that the early familiarity with the topic contributed to his unparalleled passion for wine – for him, a necessary requirement in order to establish yourself in the wine industry. Anri followed this passion and studied Wine Cultivation and Wine Industry in Elsenburg. After his graduation, he gained first practical experience in the cellar of the Swartland winery and in Portugal at the Quinta Nova winery. In 2006, he returned to South Africa and has ever since been on the family winery Beyerskloof where he continually perfects his work and tries new methods and techniques, true to the motto: Only if you know the basics, you can start new experiments.

Beyerskloof – King of Pinotage
The Beyerskloof winery in South Africa is one of the country's younger estates. In 1988, one of the best winemakers of the country, Beyers Truter, decided to cooperate with four other wine connoisseurs, to produce 'wine with extraordinary character'. Meanwhile, Beyers son Anri is the responsible winemaker. Within only a few years, Beyerskloof succeeded in creating excellent red and white wine from the cultivated noble grapes. By now, Beyerskloof is more than an insider's tip and has won international awards.
Beyerskloof Soils Are Similar to Bordeaux
The Beyerskloof soils are of a similar composition such as the ones in Bordeaux. Considering the South African climate, it is therefore an ideal location for the sophisticated wine cultivation of grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the Pinotage. The winemakers forgo artificial watering in the wine slopes to let the natural terroir come through fully. This is why many typical South African wines are produced at the vineyard Beyerskloof, which really capture the country's much-vaunted attitude towards life.
Beyerskloof Has a Clear Philosophy
A simple, yet powerful philosophy is embraced at Beyerskloof. The winery always wants to be a step ahead. The overriding principle: deliver absolute high quality wine that excites critics, and mainly wine lovers, all along the line. Additionally, Beyerskloof is committed to the up-and-coming national grape of South Africa, the Pinotage. Excellent wines are created from this grape that significantly contributes to the country's fame.
