Selection 16/79 Chardonnay 2021

Product information "Selection 16/79 Chardonnay 2021"
Those who like a multi-faceted Chardonnay will simply love the Selection 16/79 Chardonnay. The white wine caresses the nose with wonderful citrus aromas, while beautiful notes of vanilla and ginger add even more complexity to the bouquet. On the palate, the creamy, soft and full-bodied Selection 16/79 Chardonnay impresses with its excellent balance and a long-lasting taste. The limited white wine matured for nine months in French oak and is a culinary highlight on its own, but it also combines wonderfully with poultry in a fruity sauce, fish or seafood. The wine is part of the Selection 16/79 dedicated to Simon van der Stel. The collection commemorates the fact that van der Stel had a significant influence on South African wine culture as governor of the Cape from 1679 onwards.

Selection 16/79 – a declaration of love to the South African art of winemaking

Selection 16/79 commemorates Simon van der Stel, who came to South Africa in 1679 and became the first governor of the Cape. He was also the one who founded the wine culture of his new homeland and thus laid the foundation for the winemaking tradition in the Cape Winelands, which continues to this day. The Selection 16/79 is not only a homage to the origins of South African viticulture, but also reflects the richness and unique character of South African wines. The fact that the wines in Selection 16/79 offer something of everything that makes South African winemaking special is due on the one hand to the fact that the grapes come from different growing regions, but also to first-class winemakers.

Selection 16/79: A wine collection as colourful as the rainbow nation

The Selection 16/79 consists of six diverse red wines, three fruity fresh white wines and one rosé. All the wine creations have been created in collaboration with selected winemakers and reflect the different facets of the South African wine world. For red wine lovers, Selection 16/79 offers a Pinotage, a Merlot, a Cabernet Sauvignon or a classic Cape Blend. The two red wines in the 16/79 Réserve Range are expressive creations and an extremely successful example of the excellent art of winemaking in the Cape. A Sauvignon Blanc from the Elgin, a typical Chardonnay and an elegant Sémillon will delight white wine fans, while the filigree Rosé convinces with its elegance and freshness. The handcrafted Cape Floral Gin and the CAPETOWNIAN Spirit Aperitif are something very special. Unique botanicals from the Cape Floral Kingdom give the fine Cape Floral Gin its unmistakable character and the CAPETOWNIAN is the perfect sundowner that captures the vibrant life of Cape Town in the glass.

Selection 16/79 – always a good choice

Thanks to its multi-faceted nature, Selection 16/79 offers the right wine for every occasion. If, for example, you are looking for an uncomplicated white wine to enjoy with family and friends, you will find Sauvignon Blanc a wonderful companion, which incidentally also goes well with light dishes. Speaking of food: In this regard, all the creations in Selection 16/79 are a good choice. The Chardonnay is simply a dream with fish, and Cape Blend, for example, goes perfectly with your favourite pasta. As different in style as the creations of Selection 16/79 are, thanks to their complexity and fruity elegance they all radiate South African flair in the glass on every occasion.
