What our Customers think

Boekenhoutskloof - wine art with history

The historic Boekenhoutskloof wine estate looks back on a long history: founded in 1776, it is one of the oldest estates in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley. The manor house in the typical Cape Dutch architectural style was only restored a few years ago with great care and a great deal of professional expertise - a stylish symbol of the combination of tradition and modernity. However, the real success story of today's winery did not begin until 1993, when the estate was extensively revitalized and equipped with completely new vineyards. The soils - a varied mixture of alluvial soil, weathered granite and clay - combined with the mild, comparatively cool climate, offer ideal conditions for high-quality viticulture.

Top wines with an international reputation

This renaissance was driven by Marc Kent, a passionate winemaker from South Africa who, as a creative and entrepreneurial force, has made a significant contribution to positioning Boekenhoutskloof at the top of the world. For his achievements, he was named Winemaker of the Year by the Diners Club in 2007. Today, Marc Kent is the managing partner and continues to shape the style and success of the company with his vision.

The wines under the premium label of the same name, Boekenhoutskloof, have attracted particular attention, especially the Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are regularly awarded 95+ Parker points. However, more accessible lines such as The Wolftrap, Porcupine Ridge or the “Chocolate Block” with its strong character also enjoy great international popularity.

Porcupine Ridge Collection

The Porcupine Ridge Collection is named after the porcupine, which is native to the vineyards and is a protected species. The wines in this line stand for accessibility, freshness and typical varietal character - ideal for everyday enjoyment without compromising on quality.

Whether fruity Syrah, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon, lively Sauvignon Blanc or harmonious Chenin Blanc - Porcupine Ridge offers a wide range of single-varietal wines that will convince both beginners and connoisseurs. Produced with the same quality standards as the company's top wines, they offer an excellent price-pleasure ratio and at the same time reflect Boekenhoutskloof's philosophy: honest, terroir-driven wines with personality.
