Viognier

Viognier is a white grape variety and is known primarily for its aromatic flair. The grape yields full-bodied, fruit-driven and dry white wines. Because it is so full-bodied, the usually higher alcohol content is excellently packaged. Viognier is especially compelling with rich apricot and peach aromas. The bouquet rises intensely to the nose and presents an extraordinary picture even before drinking. Since the Viognier plant requires a warmer climate and somewhat drier soil, yields are usually lower. In South Africa, the vine finds good conditions due to the climatic conditions, but only a few winemakers use Viognier as a permanent part of their portfolio.
