Late Bottled Vintage

Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) is a port wine that has been stored in barrels for four to six years before bottling. The prerequisite for this is the blending of grapes from a single vintage. It has been found that the quality of the wine is only suitable for bottling after several years. LBV wines bear both the year of pressing and the year of bottling on the label. In most cases, these wines are filtered immediately upon bottling, so that these wines are immediately ready to drink. Further private storage therefore rarely serves to improve the taste. Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage wines, on the other hand, continue to mature in the bottle. In terms of flavour, LBV wines are intense and aroma-concentrated.
