Hungarian oak

Hungarian oak is planted in southern Italy and the Balkans in addition to its country of origin, Hungary, and is a type of wood used to make wooden barrels for winemaking. It is somewhat similar to American oak, so it has warm notes with a distinct vanilla aroma. In addition, this species stands for spicy notes of cinnamon and almonds. In contrast to French oak, Hungarian oak is surrounded by a slight tobacco and smoky tone and seems a bit scratchier, but this is by no means a negative criterion when judging wine.
