Grenache

Grenache, Garnacha in Spanish, is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world. In France, the vine is also known as Grenache Noire. It often yields smooth red wines with cherry and pepper notes, but it is considered a quite productive grape variety in white wine as well as rosé production. In South Africa, the low-yielding grape variety is also widespread, and numerous concentrated, storable wines are made from it. The red wines are soft and are often used for blends, especially with more tannic varieties, to provide a more harmonious taste.
