This group has, in addition to an often high alcohol content, a high sugar content, over 100 grams per liter is not uncommon. Dessert wine is an expression used almost exclusively for wines of foreign origin. Ice wines, port wines and Beerenauslese also belong to the circle of dessert wines. Mainly overripe grapes, harvested and sorted out by hand, are used to make it. If the grapes are frozen during the harvest, the result is ice wine. One of the most famous dessert wines in the world comes from Klein Constantia and is called Vin de Constance.
