Cape Independent Winemaker Guild
The CIWG, the Cape Independent Winemaker Guild, is an association of independent wine producers in South Africa. The community was founded in 1983 and has set itself the common goal of improving the quality of wine. The members are also active in innovations, such as subsequent cultivation methods and the development of new wine regions. An annual auction is held at which each of the now 45 members donates one or two barrels of its best wine. This is an exceptional showcase for rare and unique wines. The CIWG is similar to the Association of German Wine Estates (VDP).
