Cape Dutch Architecture

Cape Dutch Architecture is a traditional style of architecture in Africa and is particularly prevalent in the south and west of South Africa. The style became prominent in the early 17th century, named after the first settlers who were of Dutch descent. Houses in this style have a distinctive and therefore easily recognizable style with an elaborate and individually decorated gable centrally located above the main entrance. The sides of the houses also have gables, which are often connected by a thatched roof. Cape Dutch architecture is therefore reminiscent of the features of the townhouses in Amsterdam. Above all, care was taken to harmonize the beauty of human creativity with the beauty of the landscape and nature.
