Kaapzicht - Excellent wines from a magical place
The Bottelary Hills are a magical place for the Steytler family, who have been producing rich and opulent wines here for four generations. The focus is on the Chenin Blanc grape variety – after all, the second oldest Chenin Banc vineyard in South Africa is located on Kaapzicht – Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage. Visitors can enjoy the wines against a spectacular backdrop - after all, Kaapzicht means ‘Cape View’ - and the view extends as far as Table Mountain.

As a fourth-generation winemaker on the historic Kaapzicht Estate, Daniel Steytler Jr. continues the passion and legacy of his family. Working with vines planted by his great-grandfather, he masterfully blends tradition with modern innovation. After studying viticulture at Stellenbosch University, Daniel gained valuable international experience during harvest seasons in France, New Zealand, and California. In 2009, he officially joined the family estate as winemaker. With a clear focus on authenticity and a deep respect for the unique quality of Kaapzicht’s terroir, Daniel crafts wines that tell the story and reflect the character of Kaapzicht – wines that carry both heritage and the soul of the Bottelary Hills.
