Bosman Family Vineyards – eight generations of winemaking history

Bosman Family Vineyards is one of South Africa's most traditional family-owned wine estates and has been rooted in the Bovlei of Wellington since 1810. Today, the estate is already managed by the eighth generation, combining centuries of experience with a modern and sustainable approach. Its own vine nursery plays a particularly important role, allowing Bosman to accompany the journey from the mother plant all the way to the finished wine. At the heart of the portfolio are characterful wines made from grape varieties such as Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, authentically reflecting their origin and respective terroir. Guided by the philosophy “Dedicated to Better”, Bosman combines outstanding wine quality with responsibility for people and nature.

Corlea Fourie

Corlea Fourie has been part of the Bosman Family Vineyards team since 2007 and has helped shape the style of the estate with her thoughtful and innovative approach. After studying Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University, she gained her first practical experience at a neighbouring winery before joining Bosman in time for the 2007 harvest. Since then, she has accompanied the development of the estate and works in the historic, renovated Lelienfontein cellar. Corlea is particularly known for her passion for Chenin Blanc and for her ambition to express origin, grape variety and terroir as precisely as possible in every wine.

What our Customers think

Bosman Family Vineyards – eight generations of winemaking history

Bosman Family Vineyards represents more than 200 years of winemaking history in South Africa. The Bosman family has been rooted in the Bovlei of Wellington since 1810 and today runs the estate in its eighth generation. At the heart of the family business lies Lelienfontein, its historic home. Here, centuries of experience, modern winemaking and a deep connection to the land and community come together. Guided by the philosophy “Dedicated to Better”, Bosman strives to produce characterful wines while taking responsibility for future generations.

Bosman wines – a focus on origin and terroir

Bosman’s vineyards are spread across a variety of terroirs in Wellington, Voor-Paardeberg and the cooler Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. In the Bovlei, weathered granite soils, differences in elevation and diverse mesoclimates provide ideal conditions for numerous grape varieties. Chenin Blanc plays a particularly important role and is one of the estate’s key grape varieties. The portfolio also includes varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. In the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, cooling sea breezes and higher elevations create excellent conditions for elegant cool-climate wines such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Thanks to its own vine nursery, Bosman accompanies the vine from the mother plant all the way to the finished wine, combining origin, quality and experience in a particularly consistent way.

“Dedicated to Better” – sustainability at Bosman

At Bosman Family Vineyards, sustainability is far more than just a buzzword. The estate focuses on regenerative farming, natural soil management, the responsible use of water and energy, and the protection of indigenous plant life. Social responsibility also plays a central role: Bosman has been Fairtrade certified since 2009, while the working community holds a 26 percent share in the business. Educational programmes, social initiatives and long-term development opportunities are firmly embedded in the company. In the vineyards, continuous efforts are also made to conserve resources and strengthen natural cycles. In this way, Bosman combines high-quality South African wines with a holistic understanding of responsibility – for people, the land and the future.
