Blaauwklippen – Specialist for Zinfandel in the Cape
Blaauwklippen was founded as early as 1682 – and is thus one of the oldest wineries in South Africa and can look back on a long tradition. On the slopes of the Stellenbosch Mountains, the vines find perfect conditions on the rich granite soils. These are the best conditions for producing excellent and harmoniously balanced wines in the cellar.

Winemaker of Blaauwklippen: Narina Cloete
From 2003 until 2007, Narina Cloete studied in the field of agriculture with the disciplines Oenology and Wine Cultivation at the Stellenbosch University which she graduated in with the honours ‘Cum Laude’. Afterwards, she gained her first practical experience as an assistant as well as a winemaker at Quoin Rock Wines. Being one of the few female winemakers, she has stood her ground in the South African wine industry and is now creating unique wines for Blaauwklippen. She has also made a name for herself as a judge and has been member of numerous expert panels, amongst others for the Veritas Award. In 2013, she received the distinction of the ‘Fridjohn Wine Judging Acadamy’ and has been accepted into the ‘Wine Judging Academy’ in 2014.

Blaauwklippen Wine is Created on the Wine Slope
Blaauwklippen wine results from the wine slope that has mainly been left naturally. The winery made it its mission to produce premium products without the use of complicated cellar technologies and focuses more on an ecological approach to nature. This can be tasted in almost any Blaauwklippen wine.
Blaauwklippen with Natural Cultivation
The Winemakers from Blaauwklippen see themselves as catalysts for the grape varieties and let the vines ripen naturally. The granite soils feature valuable minerals and save the sun's warmth, which makes for optimal temperatures even at night. Hence, the winemakers have to intervene very little. Since 2004, the winery exclusively uses natural yeasts in order to not influence the fermentation too artificially. The unique taste of the Blaauwklippen wine develops, which gives character to red as well as white wine. The winemakers fulfil the ambitious aim, that every grape variety can be tasted, year after year.
Blaauwklippen offers various collections
The Blaauwklippen winery offers wine in various categories. They are all beyond reproach in terms of quality and taste. The Estate collection is made up of red and white wines, in which the characteristics typical of the grape variety are fully evident. Here you can still taste a typical Malbec, Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. Last but not least is the Premium Selection. This line is aimed at wine lovers who will find complex creations of South African wines such as the De Blaauwe Klip or a Cap Classique.
