Wellington
The Ward Wellington belongs to the District Paarl and extends from the slopes of the Groenberg and the Hawekwaberg to over the river Berg. After predominantly planting Chenin Blanc, wineries have increasingly specialized in full-bodied red wines made from Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage. The grapes have an ideal place to ripen due to the well-draining slate soil, which sits on decomposed granite. In addition to the high quality wines, the wineries also offer a unique atmosphere in a picturesque setting.
