Stellenbosch University

Stellenbosch University is located about 50 kilometers east of Cape Town. It consists of five campuses and is home to more than 20,000 students. The university has its origins with the founding of the Stellenbosch Gymnasium and College in the 19th century, but only since 1918 has it borne the official name "Stellenbosch University". This state-of-the-art institution has a high-quality range of courses with numerous departments. The AgriSciences department in particular is very popular, as it offers the option of Viticulture and Oenology. Numerous oenologists in South Africa have attended the university and subsequently worked as winemakers in wineries or are still active today. Johann Rupert, the owner of Anthonij Rupert Wines and Professor Abraham Izak Perold are two of the most prominent graduates of Stellenbosch University.
