Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend 2021

Product information "Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend 2021"
The Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend flows into the glass in a beautiful red colour. The blend of Pinotage (39%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%) has a wonderful aroma of black cherries, plums and cinnamon. Elegant tannins and fresh acidity play around the palate and accompany the rich fruit flavours. A hint of cocoa rounds off the long-lasting flavour experience perfectly. Enjoy the Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend, which has matured for twelve months in French oak, with savoury dishes, grilled meat or a delicious pasta dish. But this multi-layered red wine is also a treat on its own.

Kanonkop – a fourth Generation family farm

Since the early 20th century Kanonkop winery, situated in the famous Stellenbosch wine region of the Cape, has been owned by the Sauer family who started to cultivate high quality grape varieties in the 1930’s. Later, their son-in-law Jannie Krige took over the estate and currently his two sons, Johann and Paul, run Kanonkop with great success due to their love of wine, respect for their employees and their high demand for quality standards. The two brothers encapsulate the practice that the entire winemaking process – from cellar to bottling and labelling – is done by the winery itself. Nothing is left to chance and customers receive their Kanonkop wine as they expect it to be – of the highest quality.

Kanonkop – Excellent South African Wine from Stellenbosch

In South Africa as well as worldwide, Kanonkop red wine enjoys an outstanding reputation mainly due to its high quality. This success is derived from an impeccable business operation and includes regular inspections of the vineyards and continual improvement of the cellar technology. Top quality red wines such as the Paul Sauer, created from classic red grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage make up 85% of the plantings on the property and are expressed true to their varietal characteristics. The fruit-driven Pinotage is a unique South African variety, and Kanonkop manages year after year to make the wines from this demanding grape variety better and better. Due to controlled fermentation in open concrete tanks, a constant high quality and optimum extraction is ensured. Winemaker Abrie Beeslaar stands at the forefront of all the quality innovations in the cellar.

Outstanding Location for Premium Wine from South Africa

Kanonkop is located on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg mountain in the world-renowned winemaking region of Stellenbosch. The soils are predominantly red decomposed granite soils, with a high clay content. These ideal soils, the long and warm summer days as well as the fresh sea breeze ensures optimal ripening and therefore excellent wines. The ocean winds keep the vines particularly healthy and cool, and it is for this reason that the winemakers call the Atlantic breeze the “Cape Doctor”.
