Product information "dessert wine package | South Africa"
The Haute Cabrière Pierre Jourdan Ratafia Sweet is a unique fortified dessert wine from the Chardonnay grape variety, which has been refined with brandy. Full-bodied and with notes characteristic of the grape variety, this liqueur wine pampers the connoisseur. Above all, aromas of fresh lime and rich honey notes provide a pleasant taste experience. The Haute Cabrière Pierre Jourdan Ratafia Sweet is perfect as an aperitif or digestif, but also accompanies spicy dishes perfectly. With its enchanting pink colour, the Leopard's Leap Culinaria Collection Muscat already delights the connoisseur's senses with fine floral aromas of peach blossom, jasmine and rose water. A hint of litchi provides a fruity component. On the palate, the dessert wine is particularly convincing with its balanced sweetness-acidity play, its light texture and accessible character. Long-lasting in taste, the Leopard's Leap Culinaria Collection Muscat is the ideal companion to desserts, but it is also simply a pleasure on its own.

Haute Cabrière – The specialist for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Sparkling Wine

Haute Cabrière focuses on the cultivation of two very special grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Haute Cabrière range as well as the Pierre Jourdan range creates wines inspired by the French home of the founder. The most famous wines of Haute Cabrière are the Chardonnay Pinot Noir blend – the first still wine in South Africa blended from these cultivars – and the sparkling wines produced according to the traditional method. Sparkling wines that develops in this way, are called Cap Classique in South Africa The Pierre Jourdan Blanc de Blancs has been matured for 7 years, while the Pierre Jourdan Brut offers fresh and fruity style of sparkling wine. Also very popular are the Pinot Noir Reserve and the Tranquille.

Family Tradition at Haute Cabrière

The history of the winery Haute Cabrière goes back until the year 1694, when the French Huguenot Pierre Jourdan acquired the estate. The name of the winery goes back to Cabrière, the former home town of the proud founder. Since the beginning of the 80s, the winery is in the hands of Achim von Arnim who studied wine cultivation in Germany. The winery owner has descended from aristocracy and has always put faith in unconventional pressing methods and a seemingly never-failing sense for the preferences of gourmets for leading Haute Cabrière to international glory in the wine world. Since 2005, his son Takuan von Arnim has been running the wine enterprise with continuing success.

Spectacular Visitor Cellar with Gourmet Restaurant

The family-run estate is a popular destination for true wine connoisseurs and friends of South African flavours. The wine cellar invites visitors to take exciting tours during which they can learn more about the history of the farm and experience an underground barrel maturation cellar, followed by a wine tasting. A particular highlight is when a bottle of sparkling wine is opened in style with a sabre, like the French cavalry used to do. You should not miss out on this spectacle when visiting! The outstanding restaurant provides culinary highlights; particularly worth recommending are the tasting menu which offers a five course food and wine pairing.
