Touriga Nacional

Touriga Nacional is a grape variety from Portugal and one of the best grapes for making port wines. The berries are thick-skinned, small-berried and low-yielding. Touriga Nacional yields fine, dry red wines with high elegance and energy. Balancing the high concentration and tannin structure is a soft velvety texture and plenty of charm. Touriga Nacional offers a wide range of wines from opaque reds with fruit notes and floral accents to drops with a spicy note. In South Africa, the grape variety has gradually become one of the most popular in the entire country. Especially the wineries Allesverloren and De Krans have been creating premium wines from Touriga Nacional for quite some time, inspired by port wine.
