Coastal Region

Coastal Region is the most important wine region in South Africa and home to many of the Cape's leading wineries, including Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek, which stretch along the west coast. The wine produced there is known far beyond the country's borders and is highly regarded internationally. The soil, which is a mixture of deep loam and a sandier subsoil, is ideally suited to high quality viticulture in the Coastal Region, giving each wine distinctive flavors and aromas. The maritime climate in the region also provides excellent growing conditions and ideal ripening of the vines. With its high quality wines and mature cellar techniques, the Coastal Region has made a name for itself around the world.
