Julia Blaine
Julia Blaine studied viticulture and oenology at Stellenbosch University. After completing her bachelor's degree, she gained experience in various regions of South Africa, but also travelled to France and the USA. Julia has also developed and presented online courses on the subject of wine. In her work as a winemaker, she wants to carefully accompany the journey from the berry to the bottle and only intervene in the production process when necessary. Julia describes her motivation for her work as follows: “I look forward to bringing my energy and passion for the industry to the gem that is Bacco Wine Estate and tell the story of the brilliant terroir of Paarl. Ultimately, I aim to weave a golden thread between the vines, the wines, and wine lovers across the globe.“

Bacco wine estate in Paarl: Stylish Premium Wines
The Bacco wine estate is located in picturesque Paarl, one of South Africa's most renowned wine regions. The name Bacco is inspired by the Greek-Roman god of wine, Bacchus, but was intended to sound more Italian. Italy also plays an important role in the creation of the Bacco Estate in South Africa: Nathan Jankelowitz was enthusiastic about the opulent ‘Super Tuscans’ and wanted to produce wines himself that would stand out from other wines on an international level. Bacco is still a fairly young winery, as the first vines were planted in 2016. Three years later, the first Bacco wine was created with the Prelude Range, in the form of the "Red Blend" & "Syrah".
Bacco: Tradition and Innovation in Harmony
At the Bacco winery, great importance is attached to combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. Here, every wine is produced with care and passion and only minimal intervention is made in the production process of Bacco wines, because the motto is: ‘Winemaking is an art’. The Prelude range from Bacco in Paarl impresses with accessible wines that perfectly capture their respective grape variety in the glass – they are ideal for getting to know the South African wines from Bacco. Complex and limited are the creations of the Bacco Estate collection. These premium wines are made from grapes that only come from Bacco's best vineyards in Paarl.
Bacco: An unforgettable Experience for all the Senses
A visit to the Bacco winery is more than just a wine tasting. It is an experience that appeals to all the senses. The Bacco wines can be tasted in the stylishly designed tasting room. They are accompanied by Italian tapas called cicchetti, which Carla Jankelowitz, the owner's daughter, creates for the guests. The ‘Sensi de Bacco’ restaurant serves other delicious dishes made from seasonal and fresh ingredients. Different culinary delights are on the menu every month. The experience for all the senses goes even further: those who wish can take part in a free guided tour of the wine cellar and experience first-hand how the premium South African wines from Bacco Estate are made.
