"Passion for elegance" - this motto applies to Ernie Els not only in sports, but also to his wines. While the world-class professional golfer enjoyed excellent wines on his numerous travels, the idea of founding his own winery was born. The choice of location was Stellenbosch and the vineyards at the foot of the Helderberg Mountains offered the best conditions, especially for the red grape varieties. Also the red wines - especially the Ernie Els Signature - are particularly well known for the renowned winery.
Ernie Els - elegant and multifaceted wines
The range of expressive wines include apart from the flagship wine Ernie Els Signature, a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Merlot and the elegant and exclusive red wines of the Major Series as well as the outstanding creations of the Big Easy collection. The wines in this line owe their name to the owner of the winery: Ernie Els, who is known for his light golf swing and carefree appearance during a golf tournament - this has earned him the nickname "The Big Easy". The white wine and rosé of this range are fruity, fresh and easygoing. The reds are multi-layered and have great potential for development - a characteristic they share with the reds of the other collections, which also impress with their complexity. The wines owe their unmistakable character to Winemaker Louis Strydom. He has helped shape the success story of Ernie Els since the estate was founded in 2000 and officially opened five years later.

Apart from the first-class wines, the luxurious ambience of the estate also contributes to its success. The winery was extensively renovated in 2020 and welcomes its guests in a modern style. Not only the interior invites you to stay, but also the beautiful terrace. The panoramic views of Cape Town and Table Mountain to the west and the spectacular views of Stellenbosch and the Helderberg Mountains to the east will leave visitors speechless. Guests not only have the opportunity to taste Ernie Els' excellent wines in the Tasting Room, they can also take a behind-the-scenes look at their creation on a tour of the state-of-the-art wine cellar.
