Lynx The Spirit of Lynx 2019

Product information "Lynx The Spirit of Lynx 2019"
The Spirit of Lynx is the flagship of the estate and was only produced in a limited edition of 1000 bottles. The red wine presents itself in a beautiful red hue in the glass and impresses red wine fans already in the bouquet with its extremely fruity aroma. A hint of cedar tobacco skilfully surrounds the rich fruit aromas. On the palate, the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Cabernet Franc (33%), Merlot (1%) and Petit Verdot (1%) convinces with nuances of sweet and ripe wild berries, which are underlined by mineral tones. The oak notes are wonderfully integrated and perfectly round off the taste experience of The Spirit of Lynx. Enjoy the red wine, which was matured for 24 months in French oak, best with dishes with dark meat. Lamb with fennel and orange is highly recommended, but Lynx The Spirit of Lynx is also always a pleasure on its own.

Lynx wines - small winery with special charm

Lynx is a boutique winery that produced its former flagship wine, Shiraz, with its first vintage in 2003, which was awarded with 4.5 John Platter stars. The Lynx Wine Estate produces mostly red wines, which are all matured in French oak barrels. For this reason Lynx wines acquire a wonderful soft character with soft tannins and a beautiful mouthfeel. Since the beginning of 2020, the winery has been offering various rooms for accommodation. Each room has its own lounge terrace from which a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains in Franschhoek can be enjoyed. Guests at Lynx are part of a large family. The idyllic charm and the boundless hospitality of the owners, a German emigrant couple, invite you to stay. The Lynx Wine Estate knows how to achieve great things on a small scale.

Wine tradition - special kind of Lynx wines

The Lynx winery is located at the foot of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains in Franschhoek and has a total area of 26 hectares of land, of which 14 are planted with vines. The red grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Grenache are grown on sandy, dry soil, which later gives the South African Lynx wines a soft tannin structure. The basis for particularly high-quality grapes is the typical South African soil, the Tukulu, a relatively dark granite soil with a lot of water. Pierre Louw is the young and passionate winemaker of Lynx, who gives all three wine collections a special touch. What makes Lynx wines so special is the production and use of traditional methods and equipment. The grapes are pressed with a hand-operated basket press, which results in silky-soft Lynx wines. Controlled fermentation is achieved by the so-called "punch-down method", in which the grapes are pressed by hand at regular intervals. The flagship "Spirit of Lynx" is a classic red wine cuvée from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines. It embodies strength, passion, energy and the pursuit of perfection - this also applies to the efforts of the Lynx Wine Estate.

Lynx Wine Estate - Prudence and commitment

Lynx exclusively produces authentic South African wines of high quality and with a close relationship to their origins. A matter of the heart is the preservation of nature. The winery equips its property with beehives and plants the traditional South African plant, the fynbos, in order to contribute to the preservation of species. Meadows and green areas should be left as natural as possible in order not to destroy the natural habitat of insects. The Lynx Wine Estate is also a voluntary member of the "Organisation Franschhoek Hospitality Academy", which helps children and young people to get an education in the hotel and catering industry. The love and passion for South Africa is what the family realises and lives for every day and makes the Lynx Wine Estate shine.
