Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon grape produces more quality wines than any other grape variety. It is due to a cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc and originated in Bordeaux. Sauvignon is French and indicates a descent from wild vines. The grape is synonymous with full-bodied, elegant and storable red wines. Wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon captivate with aromas of black currant, mint and green pepper, as well as the scent of herbs. During oak aging, vanilla and cedar notes often emerge.

Spirits as an aperitif

Wines from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety are fruity and dry due to their high tannin content. The longer the aging phase, the finer and less astringent the wine. The maritime climate in South Africa offers ideal conditions for growing the noble grapes, and both blends and varietal wines of the highest quality are produced. Most wine connoisseurs abbreviate the name by Cabernet; only when they want to refer to Cabernet Sauvignon do they use the full name.
