Ronell Wiid
Ronell Wiid can look back on more than three decades in the wine industry. Before joining Bartinney in 2011, the experienced winemaker worked at some highly sought-after wineries. Ronell is a winemaker at heart and believes that the secret to a great wine is to preserve the clarity of the fruit. In the cellar, she creates elegant and balanced wines that reflect their terroir. In her opinion, the first glass of a wine should be enjoyed and savoured, while the rest of the bottle should be shared with good friends.

What our Customers think
Premium wines from Bartinney in Stellenbosch
In the picturesque Banghoek Valley in Stellenbosch, the Bartinney winery nestles on the slopes of the Botmaskop. The boutique winery, which only cultivates a small vineyard of 28 hectares, has been run by the Jordaan family since 1953. It is important to Rose and Michael Jordaan that their excellent red wines and white wines are produced in harmony with nature. Their motto is "A great wine starts in the vineyard and a great vineyard is set in a diverse and healthy ecological environment." Bartinney itself contributes its share to a stable balance of nature: native fynbos has been planted, the wines are produced in a CO2-neutral way and part of the electricity is generated by solar energy.
Bartinney offers the vines the best conditions
The vineyards are also cultivated with care, using biological pest control agents instead of pesticides. The vines grow at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level – the best conditions for South African premium wine. While the white varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay feel particularly at home in the cooler regions on the higher slopes, the red grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon finds ideal conditions on the lower and warmer slopes. The grapes that are later processed in the wine cellar into fruity white wines and classic red wines thrive here. Among the white wines, the Hourglass Chardonnay is the best the winery has to offer. The Skyfall Cabernet Sauvignon is Bartinney's best red wine.
Bartinney creates award-winning wines
Not only the two Flagships, but also the other wines are award-winning and regularly receive very good ratings of 4.5 or 5 stars from the John Platter Wine Guide. Bartinney wines can be tasted in the Tasting Room. In addition to the wines, there is another highlight here: an unusual chandelier made from old vines is the jewel of the Tasting Room. The terrace of the Bartinney winery invites you to linger and offers a fantastic view of the valley. The beautiful nature can also be enjoyed during a hike or a walk through the vineyards.
