"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much" – this motto makes the Imvini Wethu Cinsault Pinotage an exceptional wine, and it is meant in the truest sense of the word, as a large part of the sales proceeds goes to the Old Vine Project and the Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Programme to support the South African wine industry, which is still struggling with the consequences of the pandemic.
With the new vintage, the young winemakers of the Protégé Programme have once again succeeded in creating a very special wine from old vines, captivating with its youthful freshness and elegance.
In a brilliant ruby red, the blend of Cinsault (70%) and Pinotage (30%) already impresses in the glass.
Aroma & Taste:
- Fruity hints of plums, cherries and red currants
- Spicy notes of cinnamon, vanilla and pepper
- Exotic aromas such as liquorice and cardamom
- Dark chocolate that beautifully rounds off the wine’s multilayered character
Silky-soft tannins caress the palate and ensure that the red wine, aged for 18 months in oak, lingers delightfully long.
Speaking of lingering: The beautiful name Imvini Wethu means "our vines", as the Cinsault grapes come from an 88-year-old vineyard – the second-oldest red wine and Cinsault vineyard in the country – and the Pinotage grapes come from vines over 40 years old.
This is why the wine carries the "Old Vine Heritage Seal".
Conclusion: Refined and elegant – the Imvini Wethu Cinsault Pinotage is truly something special.
