Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc is one of the most multifaceted grapes in the world. It is found in dry to sweet white wines, in sparkling and dessert wines, and in spirits and brandies. Chenin Blanc, with its old South African name Steen, can thus serve all taste preferences. Typical of the white grape variety is a concentrated residual sweetness, an exceedingly fruity taste and a pronounced acidity. The aroma of honey and lime is evident in both taste and smell. The grape has a thin skin and is considered very sensitive. In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most commonly grown grape variety. Already Jan van Riebeeck as well as Simon van der Stel have cultivated and exported this grape. At that time, however, still completely under the name Steen.
