The Director’s Reserve range is regarded as Tokara’s flagship: powerful, elegant, and always defined by Cabernet Sauvignon as its backbone. Each bottle tells the story of its vintage – from ideal growing conditions to challenging harvests, culminating in a perfectly composed wine in the glass.
2013: Classic and focused. The nose reveals aromas of black fruits with subtle notes of cedarwood and graphite. On the palate, cassis and dark cherries dominate, supported by finely textured, supple tannins. A vintage of elegance and clear structure.
2014: Expressive and precise. This wine shows a vibrant bouquet of red and black berries, complemented by herbs, cedarwood, and classic graphite. The palate is filled with juicy flavors of Morello cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant. The finish is spicy and long.
2015: An exceptional year in Stellenbosch. Dense, complex, and layered with intense aromas of red and black fruits, fine herbs, and hints of spice. On the palate, dark cherries, blackberries, and ripe plums dominate, carried by fine, firm tannins. A wine with great aging potential.
2016: Intense and concentrated. Shaped by a dry year with a small-berried harvest, this vintage shows a deep garnet color and aromas of red and black fruits, dried herbs, and spices. On the palate, dark cherries and blackberries unfold, leading into a powerful, structured finish.
2017: Harmonious and clear. The nose reveals ripe red and black berries, creamy cassis notes, cedarwood, and subtle toasted oak. On the palate, dark cherry, blackberry, and plum dominate, enriched by delicate spice. The tannins are firm yet elegant, giving the wine remarkable balance and finesse.
2018: Full-bodied and juicy. This vintage delights with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, cranberry, spicy notes, and graphite. The palate is pure and focused, with dominant flavors of dark cherry, blackberry, and plum skin. The wine is rich yet precise, with a long, refined finish.
