Hidden Valley is located on the southwest coast of South Africa. Less than 40 kilometres away from Cape Town, home in the wine region Stellenbosch, Hidden Valley is true to its name - a hidden “gem of a place”, with the greatest location imaginable.
In keeping with a holistic approach to the environment, the farm was developed to its current glory. Although the winery is a state of the art, gravity-fed cellar, it is nestled into the side of the slope and intended to blend back into the environment in time. The building materials, namely stone, wood and glass were purposely selected to present a contemporary, yet functional structure. Vineyards, olive groves, almond orchards and natural vegetation, each surround the cellar, occupying an integral part of the farm's ecosystem.
Uniquely positioned to produce the best wines, the vineyards are situated on the northern slopes of the Helderberg Mountains in Stellenbosch and planted on ancient, decomposed granite soils, consisting of deep fertile Oakleaf and Tukulu profiles. This wonderful soil (and the 269m above sea level factor) together with the cool sea breeze results in a very unique and extremely sought after terroir.

Hidden Valley Wines are farmed in accordance with ecologically sensitive farming practices. This entails careful consideration as to how the soils are prepared; the vines are nurtured and non-agricultural lands are conserved. This considerate approach is part of the core philosophy of “working with nature”, where wines are produced sustainably and responsibly. Hidden Valley is a proud member of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative, which aims to unite conservation and agricultural development in a complementary, mutually beneficial manner, specifically in the Cape Floral Kingdom and the winelands.
The wine portfolio of Hidden Valley is multi-award-winning and very extensive. In total, seven different grape varieties are cultivated at the estate. The focus is clearly laid on the grape varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. These three are wonderfully suited to be used in delightful blends. The flagship is the distinctive Hidden Valley Gems, a delightful South African blend which can be enjoyed after two years maturation in the bottle. Pleasing aromas of cassis, blueberry, eucalyptus and an underlying minerality makes this product a true taste experience with a grand finish. An ideal meal companion for steaks, leg of lamb or alternatively dark chocolate.

Besides excellent premium wines, visitors of the estate can enjoy the South African gourmet cuisine in the award-winning restaurant Overture which is among the Top Ten in the country. Head chef Bertus Basson knows how to treat his guests with an ideal mixture of traditional and progressive homemade dishes. Wonderfully arranged, these delicacies are at harmony with a glass of wine from Hidden Valley.
