The Marianne Shiraz flows into the glass in a beautiful red colour. Already in the bouquet, the red wine impresses with its intensity and complexity. Fruity plum aromas are underpinned by spicy notes, nuances of cloves and liquorice are added on the palate before the full-bodied red wine says goodbye with a long finish. Enjoy the Marianne Shiraz, which is matured for 16 to 22 months in French oak, best with aromatic dishes with dark meat or game, but you should also definitely try the red wine on its own.

The Wines from Marianne

Being a small boutique winery, Marianne produces only a small and strictly limited amount of bottles. If nothing else, this is why the team focuses on a high quality of all vintages. Every wine has matured for at least three years after the harvest before it is officially released.
The red wines such as the Cabernet Sauvignon, the Desirade (Merlot and Cabernet), Floreal (Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot) or the Cape Blend (Cabernet, Pinotage, Shiraz, Merlot) enchant with a brave aromatic structure, dominant fruit notes and well integrated tannins. The Marianne Wine Estate is also famous for its noble delicacies that are perfect meal companions and feature a high ageing potential. This is true for the red wines and the white wines alike.

Marianne Winery – a French History in South Africa

In 1688, the first Huguenots fled to the South African Western Cape due to religious persecution by Louis XIV and therefore laid the foundation for prosperous wine cultivation. Numerous renowned South African wineries are at home here in the present day. In 2002, Christian Dauriac discovered the winery Marianne and was immediately impressed by the possibilities for creating premium wines for gourmets. The Dauriac family has already more than 30 years of experience in wine cultivation since they run three successful wineries in France: Château Clémence, Destieux and Château Montlisse.

Marianne Unites French Knowledge with South African Nature

The modern winery Marianne produces wines from classic red grape varieties on South African terroir. Some of the special wines of the estate are the Merlot, the Desirade as well as the Floreal. They have already been awarded with the Veritas Award; further well-known awards are, for example, the sought-after John Platter Stars and the Michelangelo Award. The Marianne Cape Blend is very popular amongst friends of South Africa wine. A powerful red wine with a bouquet of dark fruits such as currants, united with light tannins.

Luxury Holiday on the Winery

Visitors of the Marianne Country House are offered a stay of the highest quality, attentive service and a cosy country atmosphere. Eight unique guest rooms with freshly refurbished luxury bathrooms and a modern, South African interior style are the perfect starting point for long exploratory tours of the exciting Winelands. Matching its surroundings, the on-site restaurant Olivello offers an indigenous menu with its own wine specialties.
