The beautiful red colour alone makes you want more and the bouquet of the Selection 16/79...
The beautiful red colour alone makes you want more and the bouquet of the Selection 16/79 Pinotage also promises a multi-layered red wine. Aromas of red fruits and black cherries are accompanied by a wonderful cinnamon note. The wonderful fruit notes are also very present on the palate and the great tannin structure makes for a great mouthfeel. The Selection 16/79 Pinotage delights with its complex yet accessible character, matured for twelve months in French and American oak barrels and is an ideal partner for dishes with dark meat, but the red wine also cuts a fine figure with your favourite pasta. The creation from South Africa's national grape is part of Selection 16/79, which commemorates Simon van der Stel, the founder of South African wine culture.

Selection 16/79 – a declaration of love to the South African art of winemaking

Selection 16/79 commemorates Simon van der Stel, who came to South Africa in 1679 and became the first governor of the Cape. He was also the one who founded the wine culture of his new homeland and thus laid the foundation for the winemaking tradition in the Cape Winelands, which continues to this day. The Selection 16/79 is not only a homage to the origins of South African viticulture, but also reflects the richness and unique character of South African wines. The fact that the wines in Selection 16/79 offer something of everything that makes South African winemaking special is due on the one hand to the fact that the grapes come from different growing regions, but also to first-class winemakers.

Selection 16/79: A wine collection as colourful as the rainbow nation

Selection 16/79 consists of four diverse red wines, two fruity fresh white wines and two sparkling wines. All wine creations have been created in cooperation with selected winemakers and reflect the different facets of the South African wine world. For red wine lovers, Selection 16/79 offers a Pinotage, a Merlot, a Cabernet Sauvignon or a classic Cape Blend. A Sauvignon Blanc from the Elgin and a typical Chardonnay will delight white wine fans. With the Sparkling White and the Sparkling Rosé, two sparkling wines round off the Selection 16/79.

Selection 16/79 – always a good choice

Thanks to its multi-faceted nature, Selection 16/79 offers the right wine for every occasion. If, for example, you are looking for an uncomplicated white wine to enjoy with family and friends, you will find Sauvignon Blanc a wonderful companion, which incidentally also goes well with light dishes. Speaking of food: In this regard, all the creations in Selection 16/79 are a good choice. The Chardonnay is simply a dream with fish, and Cape Blend, for example, goes perfectly with your favourite pasta. At a party – or if you have a good reason to toast – the two sparkling wines should not be missing. As different in style as the creations of Selection 16/79 are, thanks to their complexity and fruity elegance they all radiate South African flair in the glass on every occasion.
