The Leopard's Leap Family Collection Cabernet Sauvignon is the classic interpretation of South African Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet unfolds wonderful notes of black currants and blueberries. On the palate, cherry notes are very prominent and supported by soft tannins. Elegant and well structured, the red wine impresses with its long finish. After the harvest, the Leopard's Leap Family Collection Cabernet Sauvignon first spent 14 to 16 months in barriques before continuing to mature in the bottle for a further eleven months. Therefore, the red wine has an excellent maturation potential. But even today it is a wonderful red wine for all those who love it strong in character. The wine tastes particularly delicious in combination with hearty poultry like duck. Also the interaction with well marbled beef or game meat offers highest drinking pleasure.

Leopard’s Leap – excellent, easily accessible Wines

Leopard‘s Leap is a winery owned by Hein Koegelenberg who already ensures a high quality at La Motte. Leopard‘s Leap wines have another quality that many premium wines lack: the winery Leopard‘s Leap creates high class wines that are accessible for novices, too. It is this exact accessibility paired with the high quality nevertheless that has made the estate internationally famous.

Young, fresh, friendly – Leopard’s Leap

At the winery, things are run young and fresh, just as the wines themselves. With this, Leopard‘s Leap pleasantly stands out from many other estates in South Africa, as it aims primarily at a younger target audience that is just about to discover the fascinating world of premium wines. A friendly service in the Tasting Room provides a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can casually taste the delicious wines of Leopard's Leap – from the Lookout Collection, which offers carefree enjoyment, to the Classic Collection with its elegant and well-structured wines all the way to the Culinaria Collection, promising to be exceptional wine partners for every menu. Speaking of food: Food also plays an important role at Leopard's Leap besides excellent wines. Apart from the Wine and Food Pairings, there is a wide range of cooking courses, of course with lots of inspiration on how to combine wine and cooking.

The Stories Behind Leopard's Leap

With the same passion with which the team is committed to good wine and good food, it is also committed to conservation. The surrounding area near Leopard's Leap is home to the graceful Cape Mountain leopards. To ensure that this remains the case, the winery has committed itself to preserving the natural population of these animals, supports the Cape Leopard Trust in their work and has even named three animals.
