The Holden Manz Merlot Reserve shimmers ruby red in the glass and unfolds wonderful cherry aromas on the nose, which are surrounded by a hint of cedar and light notes of fynbos and wild figs. The fruity cherry nuances are also found on the palate and are accompanied by a nice mocha note. The soft tannins give a lovely mouthfeel to the complex red wine, which was matured for 22 months in French oak. Enjoy the Holden Manz Merlot Reserve, limited to 1714 bottles, best pure or with dishes with dark meat, especially lamb with fresh herbs is highly recommended with this red wine.

The Picturesque Winery Holden Manz

The wonderful five star winery Holden Manz is located between Franschhoek and the Stony Brook River. From there, you can overlook the idyllic valley and the beautiful mountain range, and only 60 kilometers away from Cape Town. The name of the estate is a combination of the last names of the owners; the Brit Gerard Holden and the German Migo Manz. Both purchased the estate in August 2010 with the former name ‘Klein Genoot’ and subsequently renamed it. From then on with the primary target to produce unique wine creations, paired with luxurious exclusivity. The Holden Manz Wine Estate is nowadays without a doubt one of the most attractive and best wineries in South Africa.
In part it is the talented winemaker Thierry Haberer that is responsible for the first class quality of wine production but it is also the fertile, clayey soils of the region that guarantee fantastic yields. The wines from the Holden Manz estate are, despite the short existence, appreciated internationally and have been awarded at numerous competitions. The Holden Manz Big G from the Avant Garde Range has, amongst others, won Gold at the 2011 ‘Decanter World Wine Awards’ in London.
The portfolio of the wine producer from Franschhoek includes the broad selection of grape varieties which are all proof of unique quality and structure. Wines like the Holden Manz Merlot, Shiraz, Rosé or the Cabernet Sauvignon prove their premium segment with 4 Platter Stars each.
