The Idea Behind Creation Wines
The Creation Wines winery tells the story of Jean-Claude and Carolyn Martin, who bought the estate in 2002 and planted onto the 50 hectares of the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge for the first time. Convinced of their idea that 350 metres above sea level on the Hermanus Wine Route in Walker Bay they would produce outstanding South African wines, they harvested the first grapes for Creation wines in 2006. The rich clay, silt and slate soils paired with a breeze of sea air from the Atlantic Ocean brought the winemaker complex wines with beautiful depth and minerality.
Creation as a Pioneer in Innovative Viticulture
Jean-Claude Martin is not only the owner, but is himself a winemaker in the ultra-modern wine cellar of Creation and does interfere as little as possible in the maturation process of the wine. The experienced winegrower works according to the motto "Emphasize the Beauty of Nature" and develops excellent South African wines based on this principle. The Creation winery is considered to be very close to nature and is a member of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative. As one of South Africa's nine wineries, Creation has also been awarded the EnviroWines Seal of Approval – it is an award for environmentally friendly winemaking practices.
Excellent Food and Wine Pairing at Creation
Creation stands for wonderfully elegant wines that reflect the unique terroir. The Art of Creation Range is the flagship of the estate. These Creation wines are available in strictly limited quantities only and, like some other wines, come from single vineyards. The winery's offer is rounded off by a wide variety of Food and Wine Pairings. This is a culinary speciality that even received the Klink Wine Tourism Award.
