Backsberg - Wine for Gourmets

Backsberg aims to produce wine that is close to the wishes and preferences of wine lovers. Backsberg primary target is: tasting good. This applies for white as well as red wine, which features a harmonious structure and, at the same time, a remarkable finesse. The winemakers produce a variety of levels of premium wine at the vineyard to cater for all the different preferences.

Backsberg Is More Than a Simple Vineyard

Backsberg delivers salubrious wine that has won many international prices. This is not everything, though. At the winery itself, visitors can relax at the beautiful estate, try South African cuisine paired with the wines in the restaurant and find out more about the life in South Africa and at the vineyard Backsberg. Additionally, the winemakers are committed to nature conservation. It is one of the few wineries worldwide that is CO2-neutral. Also, Backsberg uses special, lighter glass for its bottles.

Backsberg - Excellent Location for Excellent Wine

Backsberg is located between the South African regions Paarl and Stellenbosch. The winery benefits from the unique terroir and the excellent climatic conditions. In the winter, the rich rainfall makes sure that the vines grow healthy and strongly, whilst the sun ripens the grapes in the summer. This is how the winemakers of Backsberg can produce a constant high quality. Additionally, the winemakers apply an unusual harvesting method. No single ripe grape is picked, but the entire vine when it is ripe. With this holistic and sustainable approach of wine growing, Backsberg took a permanent place in the league of the top wineries of South Africa.
