Avontuur Winery Focuses on Premium Wine

The wine from Avontuur is one of the high class products of South Africa. The winemakers exclusively plant the best vines and use modern cellar technology to produce the best premium products possible. It is mainly the red wines of Avontuur that profit from the Helderberg terroir. The white wines also enjoy great popularity amongst wine lovers and critics likewise.

Avontuur Has an Excellent Terroir

The Avontuur wine has the great advantage of an exceptionally good terroir. Located at the south west slopes of the Helderberg, the sandstone and granite soils make for the special taste, whilst the sun benefits the ripening process. The winery is placed between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, two of South Africa's most famous wine regions.

Avontuur Is More Than Wine

Avontuur produces premium wine from South Africa year after year, yet the winery stands for more than that. Connected to the estate is a horse farm from which fantastic race horses have derived. This is why there is a horse on every label and many wines are named after the most famous horses, such as the Baccarat or the Dominion Royale. These Avontuur wines are part of the Premier range.

Avontuur and its Wine Ranges

Avontuur produces three different wine levels, in which every single one lives up to its highest standards. The Vintner's Range stands for the so-called Easy-Drinking wine and offers a great price-quality ratio for every budget. The Estate Range aims at the wine beginner who wants to take the next step, whilst the Premier Range constitutes the best from the Avontuur vineyard and is intended for the true wine lover. Overall, the winemakers plant nearly 50 hectares of growing area. About two thirds are red grapes; the rest is cultivated with white vines. Avontuur wine mainly consists of the grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz for red and Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc for white wine.
